2013 - Poggio all'Oro

A Banfi family jewel, Brunello Poggio all'Oro is produced exclusively in the great vintages.
After a rather rainy spring and early summer, the months of September and October were very good, with lots of sun and excellent ventilation.
These climatic conditions favored a gradual and late ripening of the grapes, which were presented in excellent quality conditions, with wonderfully intense varietal aromas and a good balance between alcohol and acidity.
The result is a particularly elegant Brunello with a complex personality, which is expressed to the nose through a series of scents that are expressed slowly, from licorice, coffee, plum jam and tobacco to end even with a slight hint of violet . The refined structure is in perfect balance with the acid part, which excellently supports the long persistence.
A long aging wine that perfectly pairs with rich and complex dishes Also indicated as a meditation wine.

Castello Banfi

The Banfi estate extends to the south of Montalcino, to the borders of the Val d’Orcia. Of the 7,100 acres of land, about one third is under vine in a constellation of single vineyards, the remainder occupied by olive groves, fruit trees (mainly plums), woods and scrub. As a project dedicated to highlight the prized denominations of lower Piedmont, Banfi Piedmont represents the perfect union between the centuries-old sparkling wine tradition and a winemaking maturity experienced in the cellars. The property extends between the towns of Novi Ligure and Acqui Terme, over an area of 124 acres, of which 114 are under vine. Its dedication to Tuscany has recently brought Banfi to new territories, among the most evocative of the region: Bolgheri, where a small estate based on the legend of the Etruscans produces a Bolgheri DOC; the Maremma, a territory dedicated to the production of Vermentino; and Chianti, most prized for the birth of Chianti Classico.
